Idiom Business Rules Solution Launched in Australia
One of Australasia’s leading providers of e-commerce solutions, RHE & Associates, has today launched the Idiom Decision Server, a business rules management solution, to service Western Australia’s financial services and public sectors.
Idiom, a New Zealand based software development organisation and a member of the RHE Group, developed the Idiom Decision Server to assist companies to build and deploy new products and services, leveraging their existing business systems.
Idiom Director Mark Norton said that the Idiom Decision Server had attracted a significant amount of attention at the CeBIT Expo in Sydney earlier this week because it delivered a clear pathway for cost effective business growth.
“Businesses need a solution to define business rules outside the IT environment, and to ensure that these decisions can continue to be managed externally. This ensures that new decisions can be implemented in a timely basis without getting caught up at the IT implementation phase.
“Idiom’s solution provides the decision makers with the tools to refine their decisions away from an IT environment.
“Many businesses haven’t thought about the question of how business decisions are made, who owns business decisions and how they are managed. These are critical questions when organisations consider implementing an IT solution that needs to adapt rapidly to changing business circumstances,” Mr Norton said.
RHE West Managing Director Mr Malcolm Tuck said that the Idiom Decision Server was developed on XML technologies which makes it cost effective and easy to install.
“Idiom can be implemented on a rolling basis. We have found this to be attractive to businesses because it enables them to start with one small set of business rules and integrate these into one area of the business, which reduces risk and costs.
“Companies don’t have to commit significant resources to implementing Idiom across the whole business.
“XML is platform neutral so that it is compatible with all platforms.
“Within WA, organisations will be able to purchase Idiom Decision Server through a licensing agreement. We expect this product to generate significant interest from leading financial services companies and the initial feedback has been very promising,” Mr Tuck said.
According to global research group, Gartner, speed to market is critical when implementing new products and services particularly in the insurance industry.
In its report, Gartner stated: “Competition is driving insurers to quickly create and launch new insurance products, often without the necessary supporting infrastructures.
“This could often be in response to a competing insurer who has moved into the territory with an innovative, better-suited or cheaper product. In proactive and reactive cases, the time to market for new product development will need to become faster than the interval companies experience today.
